New York City-Linux Administrator/Application Support

This Position is with one of the leading media companies in the world. Publishing (magazines and books), broadcasting (TV programs, satellite radio), Internet, and merchandising are the revenue streams. The bulk of the business comes from its publishing activities

This individual will be responsible for application/systems support of a migration from Java platform to an open source environment

Responsibilities:

-Support and maintain a minimum of 20 Linux Redhat 4/5 servers

-Support and maintain Vignette Portal/Weblogic application

-Support and maintain Vignette Content Management, Subversion and Bugzilla systems

-Ability to troubleshoot applications and Database issues

-UNIX shell scripting i.e ksh, bash

-Candidate coming out of a production environment

-Create and maintain web site management tools using Perl, Shell, PHP or other scripting languages or frameworks.

-maintaining performance, integrity, security, monitoring, backup and availability websites.

-implementation, maintenance, and documentation.

-Support of web servers, application servers, database servers

-work closely with web developers, DBAs, system administrators and web content producers to maintain the Internet sites and development environments, including site updates, code deployments and problem resolution.

Pluses:

-Knowledge of and/or experience with Cloud Computing environments and server virtualization is highly desirable.

-PHP, Drupal CMS
