They are currently in need of a Scrum Master who will be responsible for conducting and managing Agile activities of their largest web development team. The Scrum Master will be responsible for ensuring that scrum rules are followed and that scrum metrics are gathered in order to track team’s progress. In addition, the scrum master will be working very closely with the Product Owner establishing and enforcing sprint priorities and release delivery deadlines.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Organize and facilitate release planning, daily stand-up meetings, reviews, retrospectives, and sprint planning, demos and other Scrum related meetings

Track and communicate scrum metrics including team velocity and sprint/release progress

Ensure the development teams are practicing the core agile principles of collaboration, prioritization, team accountability, and visibility

Update agile tracking systems to provide transparency on Product & Sprint Backlogs.

Recommend improvements and assist in changes to best practices

Assist with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and radiating information

Assist team with making appropriate commitments through story selection and task definition

Identify and remove impediments, prevent distractions that interfere with the ability of the team to deliver the sprint goal

Facilitate discussion and conflict resolution

Empower the teams to self-organize

Improve the productivity of the teams in any way possible

Ensure the team strives to make each increment of functionality shippable

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree or combination of relevant education and experience
  • Must be a Certified Scrum Master with 6+ years of technical project management and Scrum Master experience, Certified Scrum Master Practitioner and Certified Scrum Product Owner a plus
  • Excellent team player and team builder
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision in a very dynamic, geographically distributed and timeline sensitive work environment
  • Experience in a large public facing consumer site highly desirable
  • Experience in an open source Java/SOA/CMS environment is highly desirable
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work with diverse personality types
  • Ability to understand technical issues at a high level
  • Thorough understanding of agile software development methodologies, values, and procedures
  • Must have exceptional communication, organization, and time management skills

LA/Culver City – Scrum Master Consultant Needed at Global Entertainment Giant!

Our client is one of the largest television and film production/distribution companies in the world, with sales exceeding $7 Billion annually, and is a unit of one of the largest multinational conglomerates in history. Their franchises include some of the most memorable film series, game shows and other televised content in media history. Their corporate headquarters and production studios are located in Culver City, CA.

They are in need of a strong Technical Project Manager/Scrum Master is to play the role of Scrum Master for their Entertainment Assets Global Library (EAGL) project team. EAGL is a custom-built digital asset management (DAM) system used by many studio groups to store, manage and distribute marketing and other digital materials. This person will be joining a high-performing team of software developers and digital media specialists within the studio’s Digital Media Group
(DMG), whose mission is to research, develop and maintain digital media services that enable internal units to more effectively and securely create, manage, distribute and monetize their assets.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and facilitate Sprint/Release Planning, Daily Scrum Meetings, Sprint Review Meetings, Sprint Retrospective Meetings, and other related meetings
  • Create and manage the Sprint Backlog and corresponding Burndown Chart

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years experience as a Scrum Master in a software development environment
  • Certified Scrum Master (PMP Certification preferred)
  • Thorough understanding of the Scrum framework
  • Thorough understanding of agile software development methodologies, values, and procedures
  • Thorough understanding of the software development lifecycle
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work with diverse personality types
  • Strong organizational and cross-team communication skills
  • Ability to quickly understand technical issues at a high level
  • Proven ability to work independently with limited supervision and with other department personnel in a very dynamic and timeline sensitive work environment
  • Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment
