The Necessity for a LinkedIn Profile
As social networking has exploded over the Internet, many websites have a dedicated focus on “professional” and “business” social-networking. LinkedIn is the most popular professional social-networking site by a long shot, with well over 45 million users, and growing.
The site has grown to a point, based on users and fucntionality, where its profiles can now be considered a “virtual resume.” To that extent, the site is being used more and more by hiring managers as a resource in vetting candidates for their open jobs. In a survey by Jump Start Social media, it was found that employers will use LinkedIn over Facebook and Twitter in the hiring process. This just goes to show that for people who are currently looking for new work, having a well-organized and well-written LinkedIn profile is an additional tool that can help them differentiate themselves from their competition.
There will be more to come on this blog about how to best use and leverage LinkedIn in your job search. Stay tuned!
