Our client is a growing Saas firm that uses big data to help companies with their global shipping and freight logistics.  They are looking for a Senior Systems Administrator that is strong with a combination of Red Hat Enterprise Linux, PostgreSQL, Virtual Machines and Shell scripting. This is a fully remote position open only to candidates located in the United States, however local candidates able to work on-site in their HQ and visit their off-site data center (both in New Jersey, right outside NYC) are preferred.  No sponsorship is available at this time. 
 
Job Title:  Senior Systems Administrator  
 
Location:  Remote (local candidates preferred – NYC / New Jersey metro area) 
 
Required Skills and Responsibilities:
  • 10+ years of professional Systems Administration experience, ideally working in Red Hat Enterprise Linux Environments, with the majority being spent working with on-prem and co-located servers  
  • Strong understanding of SQL servers, specifically PostgreSQL  
  • Ability to write Shell Scripts 
  • Experience working on Virtual Machines ideally running on VMWare 
  • Capable of working independently with little instruction in a fast paced environment 
  • Prior experience working with off-shore teams and strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Comfortable working odd hours and weekends as needed based and based on business demands 
Nice to have Skills: 
  • BS in Information Technology, Computer Science or related STEM field
  • Relevant certifications (Linux, SQL, Shell Scripting, etc.)
  • AWS experience 
  • Able to read PHP code and interact with codebases / collaborate with developers 
  • Experience with architecture 
 
Compensation:  
  • Salary is based on experience with a target of $110,000-120,000 + an annual performance based bonus
