About the role
  • Seeking a highly product-focused Staff Engineer to define and own the technical direction of marketplace and provider experience systems
  • Act as a senior technical leader driving architecture, platform design, and execution for core marketplace functionality
  • Work at the intersection of product, engineering, data, and operations to improve how users and providers connect
  • Focus on building highly scalable, intelligent systems that power matching, booking, and provider workflows
Key responsibilities
  • Define and lead the long-term technical vision for marketplace systems including scheduling, booking, and provider operations
  • Architect and build scalable backend systems supporting high-volume transactions, matching logic, and availability management
  • Design and evolve search, matching, and personalization systems using techniques such as semantic search and applied AI
  • Improve core user journeys including provider discovery, appointment scheduling, cancellations, and onboarding workflows
  • Build systems to measure performance, optimize matching outcomes, and improve marketplace efficiency
  • Establish strong engineering practices around planning, prioritization, incident management, and system reliability
  • Lead and mentor engineers, driving high standards for technical quality and execution
  • Create architectural guidelines, documentation, and best practices to support long-term scalability
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to translate product and user needs into technical solutions
Candidate requirements
  • 8+ years of software engineering experience
  • 2+ years leading technical initiatives or engineering teams
  • Strong experience building and scaling backend systems in high-throughput environments
  • Experience working on marketplace platforms or multi-sided systems (matching, ranking, pricing, or fulfillment)
  • Strong product mindset with the ability to build user-centric solutions
  • Proven ability to design and deliver complex systems across multiple teams
  • Data-driven approach with experience in experimentation, measurement, and optimization
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Track record of mentoring engineers and contributing to high-performing teams
  • Ownership mindset with strong execution and problem-solving skills
